The Reservoir Trailhead is the gateway to the Whitefish Trail in Haskill Basin. Enjoy a picnic lunch beside Viking Creek or learn about local history, flora and fauna, and our water supply on the ADA-accessible interpretive loop. From the trailhead, the trail climbs 1.5 miles to the Valley Overlook, offering views south to Blacktail Mountain and west across Whitefish Lake. Past the overlook, the trail continues to wind through Haskill Basin to the Big Mountain Trailhead. The total distance from the Reservoir to Big Mountain Trailhead is 5.5 miles. From there, you can continue up to the ski resort, turn around and enjoy the downhill flowing trail back to Reservoir TH, or take the road back to town. There are restrooms at the Reservoir Trailhead.
The Big Mountain Trailhead, located just below Whitefish Mountain Resort, provides year round access to 5.5 miles of the Whitefish Trail through Haskill Basin, and winter access to 23 kilometers of groomed Nordic trails. Meander through lush cedar groves, take the single track trail all the way down to the new Reservoir Trailhead, or tie into the many gated roads in Haskill Basin. You can also continue to climb up to the ski resort from The Big Mountain Trailhead. This trailhead features a large parking area and restroom.
The final stop of the North Shuttle is at Whitefish Mountain Resort. Here you can take single track all the way back to town, ride XC at the resort, or buy a lift ticket and ride the mountain!
